German Chancellor Angela Merkel has held meeting with the heads of two energy giants to discuss the future of the country's nuclear power industry. The German government is planning to unveil a new energy strategy next month. As part of this, Merkel's government is considering extending the lifetime of Germany's nuclear power plants which are due to be phased out in 12 years.
